Back in 1999, a man named Nicholas White was trapped in an elevator in a New York office building for 41 hours. The story is scary especially if you have claustrophobia, but what's more amazing to me is that the story is now getting attention because we can watch the video.
I think it's finally happened. We have become a completely video driven society. It seems we can't pay attention to anything unless there are pretty pictures to go with the story.
I'm sure this story got some press back in 1999, but now Nicholas has to tell the story again because we can all look at the pictures. Maybe our You Tube society isn't all bad because you really squirm (or at least I did) while watching him trapped. But I wonder, how many of us would still read a story about a guy trapped in an elevator if there wasn't a video?
