Apr. 8, 2008: Absolut Insanity
|
The makers of Absolut vodka are in a little trouble with some Americans because of an ad campaign that ran in Mexico. Take a look at the picture on the left. It shows Mexico and the United States before the Mexican-American War from 1846 to 1848.
Apparently some Americans who live in the areas that used to be owned by Mexico are furious. Give me a break! Are you really that upset? I suppose if the ad was in England and showed North America as part of the British Empire, we should all be upset as Americans? How stupid.
I could understand if they made an ad showing Poland and France under German rule in World War II, but this seems a lot different to me.
Perhaps residents of New Mexico who are upset should think about changing the state's name as well. |
