April 29, 2008: Sometimes graffitti is so helpful.
Not that I would condone such actions (graffitti) or for that matter accuse my friends/teammates of doing it, but...
I went for a ride on the Ironman course on Sunday and about half-way through the course, I started to notice that every turn on the course is clearly marked, with big, bright yellow arrows painted on the road. The arrows weren't there a week ago. ALthough I've never quite understood why someone would paint graffitti on a bridge or the side of a building, I will say this particular form of graffitti was pretty helpful, especially when you're riding alone.
O.K., on to the accusation. About 2/3 of the way through my ride on Sunday, I noticed a bright yellow arrow on the road that pointed to the right. That arrow was crossed out and replaced by a bright yellow arrow pointing to the left. This came at precisely the spot where last weekend I convinced Tara and Susan to turn right instead of left. After riding a half-mile out of our way, I realized the error of my ways and we turned around and went the right (no, correct) way. So, I didn't mark up the roads (as much as I appreciate it), that leaves someone else who's bad at directions...
July 31, 2008 The last time you were carded So the governor of Washington State, a 61 year old woman, just laughed it off when she forgot her ID and they wouldn't let her into a bar. Reminds me of the days when I used to get carded regularly..
