I did something that I thought I’d never do… I joined a health club!
About 2 years ago I lost 20 pounds and managed to keep it off, until the last few months. I worked so hard to lose it, I don’t want to backslide like so many people do, so I evaluated my lifestyle and decided that being totally sedentary isn’t going to help me at all. I love to swim and it’s a great way for someone out of shape to start moving again.
I lived in a small town in the mountains as a kid and rode my bike everywhere. In college, I lived on campus. My freshmen year was the first year they had dorms, and each year they would build more, farther away from the rest of the campus, so I walked a LOT. But once I got into radio (no heavy lifting) I basically stopped walking.
I started watching The Biggest Loser for the first time , and was totally inspired by these morbidly obese people simply melt away due to diet and 8 hours of cardio daily. I figure if they can do 8 hours, I can do 20 minutes! So I’m starting slowly swimming laps. My plan is to increase the number of laps each week.
Three days a week sounds good to me. I figure if I’m public about it, I have to do it!
Oh yeah, and I also cut my hair shorter than it’s been in 10 years! Look for a picture on line later this week!
