April 9, 2008 : report on day one

I admire Pat Gallagher a great deal for many reasons, but one in particular leaves me most impressed: his Iron Man training. Now, I admit I was never much of an athlete when I was younger. I have poor hand to eye coordination and, well, apparently have 2 left feet. Not like Eugene Levy in “ Best in Show”, but basically uncoordinated.

However, I could always swim well. I even got my senior Red Cross Life Saving certification when I was in HS. I was the only girl in the training sessions. So when I went to the club after work yesterday, I was pretty confident . Well, I managed to do a whole 6 laps.. 3 up and 3 down before I got totally winded.

Not so good, but it’s just a start. It’s 6 more laps than I swam the day before. I plan to add more laps every week.

I promise not to dwell on this subject, because what Pat is doing is far more interesting to read about.

I’m just proud of myself for taking the first step.

OT - Victor Wooten?
Hi Gabby! I'm disappointed that MMM doesn't have anything about Victor Wooten (bassist for Bela Fleck)coming to the Barrymore on Friday! I was hoping to win some tix! Oh well, congratulations on your progress with your workout!

July 31, 2008 The last time you were carded
So the governor of Washington State, a 61 year old woman, just laughed it off when she forgot her ID and they wouldn't let her into a bar. Reminds me of the days when I used to get carded regularly..
