August 7, 2008: Too Big of an Apple to Bite?

So Brett finally has a place to play football again.  He's going to be a member of the New York Jets, the first AFC team to win a Superbowl.  Remember?  They did it way back in SuperBowl III, when they had an iconic quaterback named Joe Namath.

The New York media will not be as adoring to Brett as the Green Bay media was these past 16 years.  Sure, they'll give him a little grace period.  It will probably last about 20 minutes.  We'll have to see if Brett is reallly strong enough to handle it.

Meanwhile, the Packers got their wish and can finally move on from all the turmoil Brett caused by having a hard time deciding if he wanted to play football again.  For all of you who were sick of Brett and his flip flopping, I ask you to think about what he had to decide.

Imagine doing something your whole life and being really good at it.  Now imagine having to decide whether you wanted to give that up FOREVER.  Really think about it.  Brett had to decide if he could really never play professional football again.

Some of you will say that he's got enough money so who cares.  It's not about the money.  Football players dream of making a good salary, but guys like Brett play the game because they love it.

As you probably know, I'm a Bears fan and rooted against Favre for the last 16 years.  Now I'm rooting for him.  Why?  Because in the end I think the Packers were foolish to let him go.

The New York Jets have been waiting for a good quarterback for almost 40 years.  Hopefully you won't have to wait as long Packer fans...but you might.

Welcome, Mr. Fav-ruh
J, E, T, S, Jets, Jets, Jets! Now they're the N.Y. Bretts.

I couldn't agree more
They should never have let him go. The commentator at tonights NO/AZ game put it perfectly...who will win the games now, Rodgers or Favre? The answer we know is Favre. I am a huge packer fan but am very disappointed in their choice to turn him away after all he's meant to our team.
