I got up early, fed the cats (Laura feeds the dog) and packed my gym bag. Our driveway is very narrow so the cars are parked back to back, not side by side. The driveway is also on a hill and Laura's car needs some repair work done on the emergency brake, so she has to park at the bottom of the drive, at a weird angle so her car doesn't roll away. This also means that if I leave before Laura, she has to go out to her car and move it in order for me to get out. This morning she did that and I left for the health club. I parked at the health club and started walking toward the entrance when I got a strange feeling that I was missing something. My gym bag! It's still sitting on the bed at home. I called Laura, who grabbed my gym bag and met me at the end of the driveway (remember, I can't pull into the driveway because her car is parked at an odd angle at the bottom of the driveway). Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, we live on a very narrow, one lane, dead end street, also on a hill. So, I came home, drove to the bottom of the street, turned around and started back up the street. I got about half-way up the street when I lost traction and started sliding back down the hill. So, I backed the rest of the way down and started over. This time I made it up the street and to my driveway where Laura was waiting, in the cold with my gym bag. Now, it's off to the gym...finally...again.
July 31, 2008 The last time you were carded So the governor of Washington State, a 61 year old woman, just laughed it off when she forgot her ID and they wouldn't let her into a bar. Reminds me of the days when I used to get carded regularly..
