Feb. 21, 2008 Oscars Schmoscars

Someone had to remind me that the Academy Awards were being announced on the BIG OSCAR telecast this Sunday.
I have to admit, I don't think I have seen even ONE of the nominated films and I don't even know who a lot of the actors are.

When did THAT happen? I used to go to the movies every weekend. When I was in High School, kids owned Friday nights. Every week, kids from all over the little towns would go to one movie theater in an even smaller town. They had the only movie theater that was open all year round, instead of just in the summer.
The younger kids went to the 7:00 show and the older couples, at 9:30. Adults knew better than to show up on those nights. We'd see everything and anything and sometimes even watch the movie. When Oscar night drew near I always had my favorites to root for.

Sometime over the last , oh 15 years or so, I just stopped going to the movies. Except for the drive-in, where, once again, I''ll see anything that is playing. You don't know what good bad movies are until you've seen ": Surf Nazi's Must Die" at the Badger 4 Plex. SIGH. I miss that place.
Anyway, I digress for a change. So I got to thinking, am I really too old now? Are movies just being made for kid and guys? Or do I just hate leaving the house? Who knows. I'm afraid I'm turning into a geezer.

But at least I'm a geezer who rocks. Like this lady.
