Jan. 17, 2008: Hey, what's on TV tonight?
|
So, I went for a run last night. Not outside in the cold, but in the health club, on a treadmill, with my I-pod on and watching some pretty amazingly booring television. Thank goodness for the I-pod. On one TV was president Bush talking about whatever it is president Bush talks about these days. On the very next TV was Project Runway and then on the TV next to that was ET (Entertainment Television). It was just kind of surreal- the President and the clothing designers, then when you added in the fact that there's actually "BREAKING NEWS" on ET?!?!?!?!??! Seriously a big "Breaking News" title came across the screen as they started to talk about Eddie Murphy. As I was running and watching this, I thought about how glad I was to be at the health club doing this, instead of on the couch watching TV. Now don't get me wrong - I can sit on the couch, drink a beer and watch TV with the best of them...that's actually the entirety of my plans for this weekend, but really there's some really bad stuff on TV these days. Not to rant, but I HATE "reality" TV, and don't tell me I'll like The Amazing Race, "because it's 'athletic.'" Everyone tells me that. I really have no interest. And then there's some really bad comedy these days. And I really like comedy, but really - "The World According to Jim" is still on TV?
So for the coldest weekend of the year - a little English Premiere League Soccer, 2 1/2 Men on Tivo and of course the Packers on Sunday. Oh yeah, I'll probably head back to the club, with my I-pod or maybe my old walkman, so I can listen to a little Rock & Reggae on a Rock 'N Reggae weekend on 105.5 Triple M (how's that for a plug!) |
