I set a goal for myself in January. I will do every workout on the schedule all month long. I won't even miss a 20 minute "core" exercise. Now, I've been really good with that goal, I've switched a couple of workouts, but haven't actually skipped any workouts. I'm pretty proud of that record, not that I skipped a lot of workouts in the first training block, but it did happen from time to time - especially on a Friday night, when it sounds better to go for a glass of wine with my wife than to go to the gym and swim.
Last night, the schedule called for a 90 minute "brick." 60 minutes of biking, followed immediately by 30 minutes of running. We all set up our trainers inside and started riding. About five minutes into the ride, someone asked about the run and someone else quickly responded "let's skip it tonight." We all looked to Andy (the group leader for this workout) and finally someone said "Andy, Pat can't skip the run unless you make it official." I only told a couple of people about my goal to do every workout, but it got around the team. And I'm glad it did, Andy cancelled the run and I went home and had a nice glass of wine with my wife.
July 31, 2008 The last time you were carded So the governor of Washington State, a 61 year old woman, just laughed it off when she forgot her ID and they wouldn't let her into a bar. Reminds me of the days when I used to get carded regularly..
