July 23, 2008: Dodgeville Blues Fest Reflections

In your face blues and almost-falling-down shorts are just two highlights of last weekend's blues fest in Dodgeville..

You may have heard me mention the awkward situation when blues singer Sharrie Williams came out in the crowd and sang directly to me. Jonathan asked me if I tried to clap..or join her in the song..or in any way reacted..and you know, I don't remember. It was a little uncomfortable being in the spotlight that way--so I've blanked it out!   Once she went back on stage and I was back in my comfort zone..I really enjoyed Sharrie's performance. Even though she went on pretty early-- at 5pm--she really stole the show and I thought should have been the headliner!  (She will be at the Paramount Blues Fest in September in Grafton..again in the afternoon!!!)

In addition to enjoying the great FREE live blues and hanging out with good friends Morris and Kathy, I must say I did get a kick out of people watching. Some people had on unique outfits...and some weren't wearing much at all. Like the guy clad only in black shorts that I was extremely frightened would be danced right off of him! (See dude on right hand side of picture).

Luckily, there were no wardrobe malfunctions (that I witnessed) and the rain  held off until the last band played its last note..so it was another great way to spend a summer day in Wisconsin.

(Thanks to Kathy for the photos!)

I had a chance to hang out with some rock stars, but passed.  Why?
