Mar. 10, 2008: Would Alexander Graham Bell have call waiting?
On today's date in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell made the first voice transmission on his new invention--the telephone. It's amazing how far the technology has come since then, and how far it's progressed even since I was a kid!
Let's take a little walk down Telephone Memory Lane, shall we?
Remember when..
A call on a pay phone cost 10 cents?
You could actually find a pay phone?
You asked mom for a Princess phone in your room?
The Sports Illustrated football phone?
Busy signals?
Calling the time and temperature lady?
Touch-tone service cost extra?
You had to pay extra for each extension?
Separate phone numbers for children?
Phones were hard-wired into the wall?
You didn't have an answering machine or voice mail?
