Mar. 13, 2008: May I have this dance, and some pickles and ice cream?
An English choreographer has a unique idea for an upcoming ballet. Mix in some pregnant women with professional dancers.
Never having been pregnant myself, I hesitate to mock this idea, but "grace" and "poise" are not the first two adjectives that come to mind when I think of expectant moms.
British Ballet company Balletlorent is putting on a production called "MaEternal," which gives the dancer "a chance to share with the audience the beauty of what it means to carry the life of another within you."
Right now they're looking for 12 pregnant women to join their company, and the artistic director insists no previous dancing experience is necessary. Liv Lorent, who coincidentally is pregnant herself, says pregnant women are "fascinating, beautiful, and serene."
I can't really imagine that this something I would like to watch. And I can't imagine that most pregnant people feel like doing any pirouettes with their feet all puffy and bloated.
And what happens if some one's water breaks? I suppose they could improvise a number to songs from Bon Jovi's "Slippery When Wet" album.
July 31, 2008 The last time you were carded So the governor of Washington State, a 61 year old woman, just laughed it off when she forgot her ID and they wouldn't let her into a bar. Reminds me of the days when I used to get carded regularly..
