When Fox Sports started reporting that Brett Favre was retiring, I thought it was just an example of some one jumping the gun, making stuff up to rile up the Packer fans unnecessarily. It couldn't really be true, could it? I guess I'm still in denial, the first step in the grieving process...
Maybe by writing it down, I can speed through the five stages a little more quickly, and help you along that path as well.
Denial. NO! It can't be true! Some one somewhere pushed the wrong button and a news story went out prematurely!
Anger. How can Brett do that to us? We've been with him through thick and thin! We deserve better than to have our last memory of our beloved QB throwing an interception on an icy cold night. This is so UNFAIR! So unFAVRElike!
Bargaining. I know! The Packers will get Randy Moss and every other player that Brett likes! We'll change the Packers colors to match his eyes! We'll serve crawfish ettouffe at the concession stands! That will get him to change his mind, we're sure of it!
Depression. Most of us Wisconsinites were already depressed due to this brutal winter, so we can skip over this one.
Acceptance. Okay, so we had a great 17 years, and the Packers are a young team with lots of potential. We'll be okay. The rebuilding has already begun! Then again..maybe it's all just some kind of mistake..(oops, looks like we're back at the beginning).
July 31, 2008 The last time you were carded So the governor of Washington State, a 61 year old woman, just laughed it off when she forgot her ID and they wouldn't let her into a bar. Reminds me of the days when I used to get carded regularly..
