Mar.18, 2008: A magically delicious hangover?
|
So yesterday was St. Patrick's Day, and even though it was Monday I thought I'd do my part to stimulate the economy by hitting a pub or two..
Now I didn't actually go to one of those Irish themed places (too filled with amateurs)...but one of the places I checked out was getting into the Irish spirit in an unusual way. They had baskets of Lucky Charms cereal on the bar, instead of the usual Gardettos or other salty snack. Yes, I was as incredulous as you are, but discovered that they are really quite tasty when paired with New Glarus Spotted O'Cow. Not too overwhelmingly sweet, the frosted cereal and sugary marbits really brought out the fruitiness of the beer! Yes indeed--magically delicious!
Here are some other cereal-beer combos that might work. Or they might not.
Kashi Go-Lean Crunch with Organic Oatmeal Stout
Rice Krispies with Budweiser (brewed with rice)
Franken-berry with Pete's Wicked Strawberry Ale
Or I've been told on good authority* that any type of beer goes well over Cheerios. I hear Beerios were a staple at UW-Whitewater.
