March 10, 2008: The good news and the bad.

Sunday- a 3 hour group ride.  Indoors.  Starting at 7am.  Oh, I can't wait.

That's right, the Sunday workout schedule called for a three hour bike ride and since the weather is still not cooperating (read- Jimmy The Groundhog was WRONG!), it's a three hour ride on a trainer.  The good news, it was a group ride, so at least there were a few people to talk to.  The bad news, the ride was scheduled for 7am, so with the time change, it felt like 6am!  Ouch!

The alarm went off at 5:30am, which is really 5:20am (yes, I'm one of THOSE people who try to fool themselves into being on-time by setting the clock 10 minutes early).  Instead of doing what any normal human being would do at 5:20am and hitting the snooze button, I turned the alarm off.  So, now I had to get up or I risk going back to sleep and missing the ride.
I got to the ride at 7am and found out that the DVD player was broke, so we really did have to talk to each other.

More good news- that was my last long ride on my old bike.  When the group ride was over, I picked up my Dad and we headed out to Bike-O-Rama where I got a GREAT deal on a new triathlon specific bike, thanks to Roger and the crew at Machinery Row for helping me out there.  I can't wait to get on my new bike.  My Dad is the real bike geek in the family- all I can tell you is that it's blue.  He'd tell you all about the cool stuff that it has.

And more bad news- I now have to actually be careful loading my bike in and out of the car.  With the old bike, if I banged it up a little, no big deal.  With my new bike, I'll probably cry when I get that first scratch on it.

July 31, 2008 The last time you were carded
So the governor of Washington State, a 61 year old woman, just laughed it off when she forgot her ID and they wouldn't let her into a bar. Reminds me of the days when I used to get carded regularly..
