Welcome to Madison Day, as we celebrate this unique, oftimes wacky city.
Some people ended up here because they came for school and never left. Some were born here and some, like me, came for a job. Why did I choose Madison? The legendery Pail and Shovel party of the late 70's is the reason.
I was just starting out in my radio career, and , like Kitty Dunn does now, I did the news in the morning. Rock radio news was a mixture of real news and fun stories, and I was noticing how many of them seemed to come from Madison.
I remember reading about plans to fill Camp Randall Stadium with water and stage gladiator races. I remember reading about all the pink flamingos covering Bascom Hill and I knew this was a town that didn't take itself too seriously. Perfect for someone like me! I WAS here to see the Statue of Liberty appear in the middle of Lake Mendota, to make all the transplanted New Yorkers feel right at home. I did, and I do, and I love it here. How can you not?
July 31, 2008 The last time you were carded So the governor of Washington State, a 61 year old woman, just laughed it off when she forgot her ID and they wouldn't let her into a bar. Reminds me of the days when I used to get carded regularly..
